What to Know Before You Go! Tips for a Successful First Flower Consult.
January 10, 2014Q: We are having a Cocktail style wedding. What type of flower arrangements should I incorporate?
A: Cocktail style weddings are gaining in popularity and are often a great event for hosts and guests alike.
Absent of formal guest seating, cocktail style weddings rarely require centerpieces for large numbers of tables as the traditional wedding might necessitate.
Instead, consider a few stunning floral pieces that speak to your over all theme or color scheme for the event. For instance, if it is a shore venue; think tall vases, filled with water and/or swirls of beach grass or similar texture. Place a styled arrangement of white goddess calla lilies, or Phalaenopsis orchids and tropical or local greens on top of the tall vessel and you instantly have an arrangement 8-10 feet off from the floor to the top of the blooms.
Incorporate small flower pieces if your budget allows on each of your high or low cocktail tables. This can be a simple cylinder bud vase with a single mini calla lily in your color of choice or a shorter more compact style arraignment in a 4inch cube, of Garden Roses or single hydrangea bloom.
Above all, the cocktail reception should be romantic, classic and chic. Be sure to accent all of your tables with candlelight. Highlight the bar with varying heights of floating candles… after all, at a cocktail party, the bar is often the best supporting actor of the evening and should not be forgotten.
