Is Blue for you?

This year we are seeing a striking increase in requests to use blue blooms in our wedding and event work.

Blue is a gorgeous colorful choice and is naturally available in a wide spectrum of tones from soft powder blue to deep royal. Some of the most popular blooms used are hydrangea, anemone, delphinium, and Amy Blue© orchids.

When using blue as a foundation tone, the hydrangea is by far the most popular way to go. Hydrangea is available all year round can be had in the full range of the blue spectrum. As a base flower in a bridal or attendant bouquet, this bloom creates a full, lush look and can be equally beautiful in tall or lower compact style arrangement on your guest tables as centerpieces.

If it is a lateral, tall or unique design you are looking for at your next big event, hybrid blue delphinium is a stunning way to go can be incorporated with curly willow or birch branches for added visual impact.

Popularly, we at Narcissus work with submerged blooms. Often in a large glass vessel, orchids are the best flower choice for the fully submerged look. Luckily, orchids are now available in blue (the tone is added through a process in the growing cycle ensuring the blue is absorbed into the bloom itself preventing the pigment from running) creating a clean crisp modern style arrangement.

Though beautiful as a stand alone, blue blooms are often paired with complementary tones from deep purples to creamy whites. Check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/accentsbynarcissus  or our gallery www.mynarcissus.com/gallery for more inspiration!
