What flower trends do you see on the horizon for 2015?

Bridal BouquetThere are a few standout trends that are catching our eye as we look toward 2015 and its wedding and event season. Each has been building momentum through the past few years and would certainly qualify as a popular trend as we make a start on booking our 2015 weddings and events.

The most interesting can be boiled down to three key trends; color, cascade and charming detail.

Color! It is all the rage and many of our brides are opting for color in their bouquets and throughout their wedding flowers. [With the exception of winter whites] Color has dominated the wedding flower scene. Bold combinations and textures are now the rule rather than the exception. What makes this trend most interesting is that it represents a movement rather than a “flash in the pan” trend. Enhanced procurement of flowers, I believe, has a direct link to this trend, making intense color, exotic and enchanting blooms just a phone call or email away. We have truly blown the doors to innovative artistry in color and flower combination wide open!

The second notable trend is the return of the Cascade. The long forgotten cascade bouquet is set to make a bit of comeback for some of our fashion and trend conscious brides. Though not for everyone, this distinct style is mounting a return to the flower scene with a few notable differences. The stems of the latest cascade bouquets are often bound and wrapped much like the ever popular hand tied round bouquet. The bouquet holder has not made the return with the corresponding blooms, much to my own personal joy. Additionally, the flower selection used to create the cascade effect is often a tropical or more delicate bloom, orchids ruling the day as opposed to the rose of old.

BoutonniereA third trend is the ever increasing attention to charming detail. Boutonnières have become miniature works of art down to the finest of details in the foliage, wire wrap and cuff embellishments. Bouquets are adorned with broaches or charms of emotional significance. Moreover, the trend toward a more personalized guest experience is also taking hold when discussing reception decor and additional pleasantries. Lower intimate tablescapes, increased use of candle light and assigned guest seating all add to the evening making it truly a night to remember. Most recently, a fine detail in reception seating is taking a page out of a formal state dinner, where not only are guests assigned a table, but the bride and groom are creating personalized seating assignments at the table itself, truly a labor of love.
