Your Garden Wedding at the Jersey Shore

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

The garden inspired tablescape is a beautiful and popular choice for many of our brides on their big day.   Here are two examples of how to bring a little bit of the outside in for you and your guests on your wedding day through your wedding centerpieces:   Taller displays of bear and needle grass in elevated cylinder vases with a foundation of cream, blush and celadon green sea shells, surrounded by a collection of garden verity Hydrangea of blue, lavender and blush tones inspired by the dunes and gardens found here at the shore create large tablescapes sure to please!   If a low centerpiece is what you desire, try flats of wheat grass, for a true garden inspired look. Place two glass cubes on either end, diagonally from one another is... more

Why wedding flowers matter…

Friday, June 25th, 2010

For almost as long have been formal weddings, there have been wedding flowers. Okay, so the purpose and functionality have changed ~ from masking the unpleasant body odor of the peasant and middle class bride and bridegroom who did not have access to the “deodorants” of the Dark and Middle Ages, to a present day expression of personalities and splashes of color.   -Wedding flowers make the day tangible for your guests. In many cases, elements of the brides and bridesmaids bouquets, flower color and selection, can be found on the guest tables.   -Flowers are in fact one of the few elements that are front and center for the entirety of the evening. (they will also appear in most of your photos) Sometimes a large part of the wedding budget... more

A Tropical Paradise at the Jersey Shore

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Summer fun and summer weddings bring out some of the years boldest color combinations and textures. One of our fabulous weddings last week featured Birds of Paradise as the main varietal. The bride carried a stunning bouquet of large birds in a round hand tied style with variegated aspidistra leaves and natural leaf wrap.   The maid of honor carried orange calla lilies and the centerpieces featured cubes teaming with birds in brilliant orange and rich yellow Vandyke tulips, together with bear grass and aspidistra leaves this stunning combination echoed the festive mood of all guests at this New Jersey seaside venue.   To create your own unique wedding flower combinations call today to schedule a free flower consult. 732.281.0333   Best,... more

Seasons in Bloom…

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

When trying to trim the wedding budget, there is much talk about buying in season flowers for your wedding. This is an important fact when choosing the flowers for your big day!   However, with modern commerce and trade reaching every industry, the floral business has evolved much as the rest of the world, it’s getting smaller. We at Narcissus import blooms from all over the world, and many times at no or very little extra cost at the point of delivery. This allows even the budget conscious bride to enjoy many different types of flowers all year long.   If you are interested in having a little pop or style in your wedding flowers, without breaking the bank, it is as important to choose a florist who has the knowledge of what is truly available... more

In Memoriam Flowers

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

With increasing requests for ideas for memorial flowers, we at Narcissus would like to share some of our well received suggestions on the topic.   The idea of a floral tribute for family members who are with us in spirit on our big day is a wonderful way to remember those who have passed on in an elegant fashion. When selecting a floral tribute we often suggest flowers that can stand alone in solitary beauty. Most popularly the Calla lily or rose are used.   The tribute can be a single flower in a bud vase placed next to a photo or alone on a dedicated table. We can also provide a collection of blooms each representing a family member you wish to remember or a mixed arrangement.   Once you have decided to incorporate this into your ceremony... more

A Note on Early Fall…

Monday, October 19th, 2009

The Fall is all about texture. Oversized vases of bountiful mixes of bold florals with lush fresh fruit create an eye-popping lower arrangement for your guests enjoyment. For those with a flare for the dramatic, the impressive curly willow and birch branches teeming with red and orange orchids are the perfect combination for a spectacular ceremony or guest table arrangement.   With more ceremonies onsite these days, creating oversized aisle and ceremony florals is a great way to customize the space in which you will say your I do’s. The best part here is the pieces are easy to move and place on a new structure or fluted vase for a completely transformed look throughout the rest of your reception. This is a great way to get more bang for... more

Double Up!

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Double Up! With so many options for floral centerpieces at times it can feel overwhelming. A recent look which took the breath away of all guests at one our August 1st weddings, (I know because I was one of them) was a collection of cube arrangements on all of the guest tables. Keeping true to the vibrant personalities of the bride and groom, we incorporated a lot of texture and color to make these centerpieces pop. (Pictures sure to follow) This look kept the clean and sophisticated overall style of the affair in tact as they where all lower to the table, using only fine verities of blooms with plenty of beautiful candle light. Though not for the cost conscious, this bountiful look of multiple pieces per table is a sure fire way to make... more

Embrace the Season!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Summer is in full swing and with so many verities of flowers in each of the summer months at your disposal, we at Narcissus encourage our brides to use what is in season as well as in hues that reflect your style and the time of year.   Summer weddings at the Jersey Shore are a lot of fun, and the flowers you choose should reflect that. From pomegranate and watermelon tones available in Dahlias, Gerbera Daises, and Hypericum Berry to brilliant yellow Roses, Calla Lilies and lush Hydrangea blooms in pool and sapphire blues.   As an additional note: keep your venue in mind and be sure to consider what will look best in your chosen setting. Creating a theme and color scheme is a great idea; just remember they won’t paint the walls for you!... more
